Practical tip/Transport/Shanghai

Shanghai metro exits matter more than you think

The right station was only half the job. Saving the exit number stopped us from walking an unnecessary twenty minutes.

Shanghai metro stations can have many exits. We learned to save the exit number before boarding, not after reaching the station.

A simple habit

Screenshot the destination map and exit number while you still have a stable connection. Look for the numbered signs before leaving the paid area.

When luggage changes the plan

Not every exit is equally convenient with bags. Check for elevators and allow extra time at large interchange stations.
